  1. You can’t use the word most. I was homeless for over a year. You have a large combination of people, and why they are homeless. I feel many are mentally ill. I came across many of those than anything else. They get released from the state hospital with no place to go… I need not say more.

  2. I think the question you should be asking is: “Did the drug addiction lead to the homelessness or; Did the homelessness lead to the drug/alcohol addiction? Here is your source. And Please people on Y/A; Learn how to use Google search.

  3. It’s really hard to get an exact number when dealing with the homeless because a lot of them people either forgot or stopped caring about them so their invisible to the world.

This is the best I could find:

    38% report alcohol use problems

26% report other drug use problems

39% report some form of mental health problems (20-25% meet criteria for serious mental illness)

66% report either substance use and/or mental health problems

    3% report having HIV/AIDS

26% report acute health problems other than HIV/AIDS such as tuberculosis, pneumonia, or sexually transmitted diseases

46% report chronic health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or cancer

    Best of luck.
