First of all it’s alcoholic, not alcohol addict. Second of all, you can’t. Alcoholics have to hit rock bottom before anything can change, otherwise they see nothing wrong with their life and no reason to change. Both of my parents are alcoholics and trust me, there is nothing you can do but offer your support. Getting mad at him or telling him what to do will not help. With any addict or alcoholic, nobody can save them but themselves. Sad but true. Sorry
Alcoholism problem is a serious disease which needs counseling for him to convince to undergo an alcohol treatment. Alcohol intervention programs could also help him to bring back his life to normal.
unless your brother admits that there is a problem there is really not much you or anyone can do i know this from experience AA member for over a year this is so hard on the family more than anything i would love to tell you its going to be easy but the first step is for him to admit he is beat by the booze the rest is really up to him
good luck to you and your family
there is no such thing as hitting rock bottom, if he wants to stop he’ll stop which will prolly be impossible, but theres really nothing you can do sorry.
Unless he wants to change, he won’t stop drinking.
You could try going to Al-Anon meetings. Al-Anon is a group for families and friends of alcoholics. They have a related group, Alateen, for young people. This may not change your brother, but it will give you insight in how to deal with him.

Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic, even though they may not drink, they’ll always crave for a drink.
